Nature Destinations in Tammela Region

Tammela and its neighboring areas have a truly diverse range of natural destinations. Tammela is home to the Liesjärvi and Torronsuo national parks, as well as several other hiking destinations, such as Saari National Park and Ruostejärvi Recreation Area.

Almost equally close, although in neighboring municipalities, are also the Pääjärvi Recreation Area, the clear-water Melkuttimet, the Komio Nature Reserve and the Poronpolku Trail, which runs partly through the Komio area.

Slightly different types of nature destinations can be found in the Forssa National Urban Park, where diverse nature combines with culturally and historically significant sites. The nearly 1,000-hectare park includes, among other things, urban parks, swimming beaches, a birdwatching tower, a frisbee golf course, a recreational forest and an allotment garden. The Loimijoki River flows between the different areas of the park.

Since the hiking trails in the region are relatively short, they are well suited for day hikes and also for hiking with children. At the end of the day, you can stay in the nearby area and take a sauna, and the next day after breakfast, head for a new trail. However, most of the above-mentioned nature destinations also have hiking connections to the over 250 km long Häme Ilves Trail, so even long hikes in the Häme Lakeland area are possible.
